Pizza Hut is reversing its modern redesign and bringing back its classic restaurant features to attract nostalgic customers. Led by Tim Sparks of Daland Corporation, over 80 locations across the U.S. are being transformed with red-checkered tablecloths, vinyl booths, Tiffany-style lamps, and retro Pac-Man arcade machines. The revival also includes the return of the salad bar, red plastic cups, and the beloved BOOK IT! Summer of Stories reading program, which rewards kids with free Personal Pan pizzas for reading during summer break.

This shift comes after Pizza Hut modernized many locations in recent years, resulting in stark, uninviting spaces that alienated longtime fans. Sales declined, leading to the closure of 250 underperforming stores in February 2026. The retro rebrand is a strategic move to reclaim the chain’s identity and charm.

While customers welcome the aesthetic changes, many are calling for the return of the original pan pizza recipe, which some say no longer tastes like it did decades ago. The chain has not yet confirmed whether it will update its food formula, focusing first on the in-restaurant experience.
